Richard
Wong has 50,000+ images in his files and that perfect
image for your publication needs or art collection might just be
available. In the event that the images aren't available, Richard
can be contracted to shoot the pictures on editorial and commercial
assignments for you.
Specialty areas of knowledge and expertise include:
- Marine wildlife and coastal
ecosystems of the Pacific Coast
- California environmental issues and history
- North American travel.
Marine Science: At
one time,
Richard was employed as a naturalist at a popular
aquarium in San Francisco where he educated the general public, school
children, and tourists about marine wildlife and the environmental
issues concerning the San Francisco Bay Area and California
Coast. Among the myths that he helped to dispel was that all sharks are
man-eaters. That myth simply is not true. As a result, Richard is
perfectly suited to be contracted by you for assignment photography and
writing along the Pacific Coast due to his knowledge, experience and
love for all
things marine-related.
California Environmental
Issues and History: Richard could not have been
an aquarium naturalist without having strong convictions
about environmental issues. He keeps up-to-date on California
environmental issues both past and present, and has a keen knowledge of
the state's history. Depending on the organization and assignment,
Richard would consider Pro Bono assignments in addition to commercial
work for publications.

One
of
Richard's projects that hopes to acquire funding for is a documentary
photography project involving his heritage in America. His great-great
grandfather immigrated to the United States via San Francisco during
the Railroad Building era in the 1800's, and Richard has always
been fascinated by the stories that his grandparents have
passed on through the years.
North American Travel:
Richard has visited every region of the United
States and the Canadian Rockies in his lifetime. Traveling is what
Richard lives for. The majority of Richard's traveling has been done by
car and on foot as he feels that one gets a more intimate view of his
country's culture by road. As a young, healthy photographer who is
equally as comfortable hiking five miles up a mountain in pouring
rain to shoot pictures of waterfalls as he is blending into the party
scene on Bourbon Street, Richard is
available for editorial and commercial travel assignments both as a
photographer and
writer.
