One of the five remaining covered bridges of Madison County, Roseman Bridge was forever immortalized in the famed Robert James Waller novel, The Bridges of Madison County. This is the bridge that Kincaid, the National Geographic photographer, was looking for when he stopped at Francesca's house asking for directions. It is also the bridge where Francesca, a married housewife, later left a note for Kincaid inviting him to dinner.

At one time, there were 19 covered bridges in the county. Most have fallen due to weather, but most recently several were victimized by arsonists. Nearby Cedar Bridge was burned down in 2002, and was rebuilt in 2004.
