The famous Transamerica Pyramid is the iconic symbol of the San Francisco city skyline. The 48 story tower was completed in 1972 and stands in at 853 feet tall. As of 2007, it is the 76th tallest building in the world. Despite the name, Transamerica no longer owns the building, as the company was bought out by Aegon in 1999. Despite it's popularity, the building is not open to the public.
