Every winter as part of the Pacific Flyway, millions of waterfowl stop by the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Ecological Reserve while on their migratory path from the Alaska Peninsula and the Gulf of Alaska and parallels the coast line of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California. Some birds continue further south to the mouth of the Colorado River into Western Mexico. Birders and photographers love this reserve as it's one of several great locations to observe birds in Southern California. With the Salton Sea being another.
