Precariously standing atop a needle of eroded sandstone, Balanced Rock is a favorite attraction at Arches National Park, Utah. Given the fragile nature of sandstone at Arches National Park and throughout the Colorado Plateau, one can never know when the last time they'll see a famous landmark such as Balanced Rock.
We must be careful as a society not to hasten the demise of our precious natural landmarks by doing things like scorching them with Duraflame logs for the sake of creative night photography, or by climbing them.
