Every winter the last remaining wild Coho Salmon spawn in the San Francisco Bay Area takes place in the Lagunitas Watershed in West Marin County. On a good day after a heavy rainfall, dozens of salmon can be seen leaping up the powerful cascading waterfalls of the Inkwells to their Lagunitas Creek spawning grounds to lay their eggs and die after their arduous journey upstream from the Pacific Ocean. Life is harsh. That is the cycle of life.

Coho Salmon are protected by the Endangered Species Act, so please be respectful of the fish by not disturbing them if you choose to go see them. Without the protection of the Endangered Species Act and cooperation of the public, many of life's most spectacular naturally-occuring phenomena would be eliminated forever.
