The Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs is the most famous event in Kentucky attracting hundreds of thousands of people from around the world and celebrities into Louisville during Derby Week. In the weeks leading up to the Derby, the Kentucky Derby Festival features events like giant hot air balloon races, debutante balls, concerts on the Riverfront Park, barbeques and a parade. One of the most popular events is the Derby Festival Balloon Glow. The Balloon Glow takes place on the night before the actual balloon race where tourists, families and kids can interact with the balloon drivers and see them fire up and lift-off from up close for a good 'ol dose of southern family fun.
