The Palace of Governors was a capitol building of the Spanish colony at the time of Santa Fe's establishment in 1610. It is the oldest capitol building of any sorts in what is now the United States. Santa Fe is unique in that it served as a capitol city for four different governing bodies: Spain, Mexico, the Confederate States, and the U.S.
