The 11th of the 21 California Missions, Mission La Purisima Concepción de Santísima Virgen María was founded in 1787. After the Mexican secularization in 1843, the mission fell into disrepair. The dedication of the newly-restored mission took place on December 7th, 1941 which coincidentally was the day in which Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese military.
