Nicknamed "Surf City USA", Huntington Beach epitomizes California beach culture. Santa Cruz also lays claim to the title of Surf City USA but the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded the hotly contested moniker to Huntington Beach in 2006 after a lengthy legal battle over the name.
