Mount San Antonio, commonly known as Mount Baldy is the highest mountain peak in the San Gabriel Mountains and one of the highest in Southern California standing in at 10,064 feet. The often snow-capped peaks form an impressive background for the Downtown Los Angeles city skyline some 50 miles to the southwest. San Gabriel Valley residents know it is a good day to be outdoors when the ever-present smog subsides enough to see Mt. Baldy clearly from miles away. That typically would occur in the days following a rain storm.
