Rising above the Mojave National Preserve floor at 650 feet tall, the Kelso Dunes are the largest dunes in the Mojave Desert. They are also one of the few dunes in the world to produce a low-frequency sound called "singing sand" when large amounts of sand are displaced from the top of the dunes.
