Stormy Evening at Vermillion Lakes, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Stormy Evening at Vermillion Lakes, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

It had been 29 years since my mom had visited the Canadian Rockies. On that trip, it was my dad, my mom and myself. My brother was just a baby at that time so he stayed at my grandparents’ house. Fast-forward to 2015; my dad is no longer with us and my brother is an adult now so I decided that we should celebrate my mom’s birthday this year with a trip to the Canadian Rockies. This trip was mainly for my mom and to have some quality family time since they live in L.A. and I live in the Bay Area so I didn’t focus on photography the way that I usually do on trips. We ate well, sort of slept in, did some classic day hikes and relaxed you know kind of like how normal people vacation. 🙂 I still shot a fair amount of photos though mainly during the daytime but also on this first evening right before the rain rolled in.

  1. Wow, sleeping in, casual mid-day shooting – not sure how you go through it! 🙂 seriously though, it will hopefully be a trip you will always cherish.

    • Haha. I think it’s easier to put the photography aside when you see family having a good time though in an ideal world, my family would be photographers too. 🙂 Landscape photography can seem like a selfish activity so there has to be a balance.
