Two years ago it was Santa Fe National Cemetery, last year it was Bozeman Cemetery and this Memorial Day I found myself at Arlington West in Santa Barbara. As I was taking photos here I thought of the 9/11 memorials and the war protests I’ve photographed over the past nine years. I thought about the families out there that have had their lives turned upside down from the ugliest side of human nature. I also thought about how trivial my photography is in comparison to what people do to serve this country.
