Brea Canyon Fires, Diamond Bar

Posted on | November 16, 2008 | 8 Comments

Photos from this morning along the 57 Freeway in Brea Canyon. I got in there before the roads were closed to in-coming traffic. The TV crews, police and fire trucks were here too but I got out before the water was dropped in the canyon.

    Richard:

Wild pics. Stay Safe. I figured you would be out getting some images when I saw the news reports.

BTW, Remember my buddy Michael who you met with me in Joshua Tree. He’s now an official CALFIRE photographer.

These fires can be some seriously dangerous conditions, so again, be safe.

Thanks Gary, I left when it started getting scary. Michael has a great gig! He should get those images up on his website.

    Wow – be safe.

These fires are really sad – I hate if for those folks in the 500 unit trailer park! We have family in Brea – so far they are ok.

I hope your family will be ok, Ron. I heard on the radio earlier that they re-opened the 57 but I don’t know what came of the fire.

Thanks Bernie. The only affect it really had on me were my eyes since I wear contact lenses. I ended up wearing glasses while out here shooting.

Awesome pics. Just wondering how much postprocessing you did to achieve these orange/brownish mood of the pics (if any)?

Thanks Mark. I didn’t do anything to get the orange / brown colors because the sun was backlighting all of this with diffused light. In some images I had to tone down the yellow to neutralize the cast somewhat. What I also did was adjust the contrast and exposures.
