New Camera and Lens

My first stop in the morning was the Palm Springs Air Museum. My card was full so I clean off the memory card as usual. Well my “full charge” of camera battery all of the sudden went down to one cell. Two photos later it was dead. No problem. I figured I’d go back to the car and put in my other battery. Just one problem though. That battery only had one cell left too!

I was able to make it through the rest of the day by being conservative with my camera battery usage but it died for good as I was photographed the iconic dead oak trees right as the sun was setting. Couldn’t have been a worse time but Brian Auer was generous enough to let me borrow his Sony A-700 DSLR that had a Sigma 10-20mm lens attached to it. Not bad at all. I really liked the lens as it gave a slight vignette at the widest focal length. There was a minimal amount of distortion from what I could tell. The Sigma lens is relatively inexpensive so I’m tempted to get one for myself.

Richard – this is a beautiful shot. It has a really nice, peaceful feeling to it!

Thanks Sherri. This was a 30 second exposure. There were a lot of shorebirds making noise so the picture is a little deceiving in those regards.

    Hi Richard,

    This is really nice!

You know I hadn’t seen a post come though from you on my blog reader for over a week. I finally had to go by your page to see what was up. The new site looks great! And now it is much easier to leave a comment as well.

    Bummer about you battery situation.

    Ron

Thanks Ron. Yeah Brian was pretty generous.

I guess I’ll have to subscribe to my blog and see if it is working or not. It is the same feedburner account though.

Very lovely shot. I like the symmetry of the pilings, and this is one photo were dividing the sky and land(water) evenly in the frame works fine. Great reflection in the water.

    Nicely done!

Thanks Bob. I hadn’t even noticed how evenly it was composed.

Keep up the great work! Look forward to reading more from you in the future. I think it will be also nice if you add “send to email” tool so people can forward the articles to their friends easily.
