Double Good News

The past week has been a very eventful one for me to say the least. First off, I have the cover photo on the current VIA Magazine, July/August 2016 Oregon edition. VIA is AAA’s travel magazine for Northern California & Oregon members. One of the first photos I ever sold was to VIA more than …

Oregon Video

Oregon Video “Oregon” is my latest video. I’ve become completely fascinated with and borderline obsessed with cinematography since this summer when I was photographing the Canadian Rockies so I’ve been dissecting filmmaking techniques every time I see something on TV or on the web. It’s kind of hard to see things in the same manner …

Portland Farmers Market

I love farmers markets so I got up early on Saturday a few weeks ago to go to the Portland Farmers Market at Portland State University. I wanted to go get my pictures before the light got too harsh and all the crops got picked over. I really enjoyed Portland Farmers Market. I also had …

Ecola State Park

After spending the afternoon in Astoria and Fort Clatsop (the place where Lewis & Clark’s expedition wintered in 1805-06), I spent the evening photographing at Ecola State Park. It’s a great place and reminiscent of Trinidad State Beach in Northern California. I’d certainly like to spend more time exploring Oregon’s coast in the future.

The Kind Act of Sharing Knowledge

I had packed away my camera equipment and was about to head back down the mountain to my car because I wasn’t eager to hike through an unfamiliar, dense forest in complete darkness equipped with only an LED flashlight. As I was about to leave, the several locals (non-photographers) that were up on the mountain …

Mount Hood

Mount Hood is a very distinct-shaped peak that I’ve seen several times while flying by in airplanes so I was excited to finally be able to photograph it when the rainy weather cleared up. I’ll say it again, man, Oregon is awesome!

Mount Adams

Dare I say it, but Oregon is way more fun for landscape photography than California is. Oregon is so underrated. It wasn’t until the past few years when I started seeing images from Oregon that it got on my radar. This scenic photo of Mount Adams at sunset was made on the 4th of July …

Fairy Falls

Fairy Falls was arguably the prettiest waterfall that I visited during this trip. The other waterfalls I saw were a straight drop of water for the most part but Fairy Falls is actually a fairly small cascading waterfall. The hike up here features a bunch of switchbacks and is a fairly steep uphill hike which …

Why Oregon’s Scenery is So Amazing

Why is Oregon’s scenery so amazing? Because it looks like this most of the time! If you put L.A. weather year-round up here, it would probably be as ugly as L.A. Luckily for me, I love wet, gloomy weather as evidenced by the places I tend to travel to.

Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler

I don’t know what it is but I find riverboats to be fascinating. From Disneyland’s Mark Twain Riverboat to the Belle of Louisville, I think they all look great and bring about a sense of nostalgia. I saw the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler pull into the marina at Cascade Locks on a couple different days as …
