I naturally gravitate toward wide angle lenses and focal lengths but the nice thing about living so close to and being so familiar with a place like The Huntington is that can push myself to look for different ways to photograph familiar subjects. As a result, I’ve been making regular use of my Canon 70-200mm lens to search for scenes within a scene. Over the past year, I’ve also found myself using this lens frequently for landscapes as well and I think it’s helped me to become a better photographer because I now look for multiple ways to photograph a scene rather than just looking at it from just a preconceived wide perspective.

    Thanks guys.

Russ – Let me know next time you’re going to the Huntington and maybe I’ll meet you there since it’s down the street from my house.

Thanks Pat. I really like how that image came out as well. I might do a canvas print of it.
