It's a Small World Ride at Disneyland, Anaheim, California

It's a Small World Ride at Disneyland, Anaheim, California

I went to Disneyland with some friends a few days ago and it was my first visit since my senior year of high school. It was my favorite amusement park as a kid so I was pretty excited to revisit all the old classic rides like It’s a Small World and the Mark Twain Riverboat. It’s been so long that I remember the price between somewhere around $30 when I last visited, rather than $80. Though they aren’t new rides, I went on the Matterhorn, Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh for the first time. I was too scared to go on the Matterhorn and Splash Mountain when I was younger but at this point in life it’s just fun. The Haunted Mansion was my favorite ride as a kid because of how unique it was but this time I really enjoyed Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Indiana Jones.

Since we were there purely for fun, I left the DSLR at home and just carried a small point and shoot camera along for personal snapshots. Though a large percentage of my image sales are of travel photos, I couldn’t imagine putting a serious amount of effort photographing Disneyland. It’s a place that’s meant to be fun, not to work. Sometimes a travel photographer needs to just experience travel as a tourist rather than hiding behind a viewfinder. It takes one to know one after all.

Yay, I like the perspective and colors. Definitely captures the spirit of Disneyland.

$80 wow has that gone up! That would be a tough place to photograph.

    Thanks guys.

Ron – that doesn’t include California Adventure either, and you probably won’t be able to fit even half the rides in on a single day. There’s a lot to do there.
