Granville Island is a great place to spend the afternoon and evening. You can go to the public market and buy fresh fruits from local farmers, find dinner and take it outside on the benches watching kids chase the pigeons with live music in the background. There are also restaurants and shops everywhere in addition to Aqua Bus tours of the False Creek. The view of Yaletown from across False Creek and the Granville Street Bridge is as nice as cityscapes get.
There are tons of subjects that a photographer can shoot here from the agriculture, fresh food, scenics, street photography, architecture you name it. The key is to visit at a time when it isn’t too crowded however.
We stopped by Granville Island three times but this photo was taken on the first visit, our 4th day in Canada. This also was the only sunset we really saw in Vancouver as the other days were either completely overcast or mostly cloudy by dusk.
