I read a lot of articles and comments about how photographers should always strive for lofty art goals. I do my fair share of rants about the current state of landscape photography as well but at the end of the day none of that matters. Who cares what others think? My point is that photography should be fun. If you aren’t enjoying yourself then why are you doing it?
As for myself, I had a great afternoon on the trail at Mount Tamalpais State Park. I passed by a flock of wild turkeys doing their thing. It was about 80 degrees out and I had a world-class 360 degree view of the entire Bay Area all to myself with fog on one side and summer monsoon clouds on the other. Living the dream. I made photos. Is it art? Is it just another sunset? It’s all in the eye of the beholder.
