I had thought that Moraine Lake was the most beautiful landscape I had ever visited. That was until my family and I took the Maligne Lake boat tour out to Spirit Island. Many of the landscape compositions that I normally shoot back at home aren’t the type that automatically demand that a camera be pointed at it but I felt a strong magnetic-like attraction to Spirit Island from the moment that the boat entered this cove. It was sensory overload so I wasn’t sure that my brain was firing on all cylinders while trying to photograph this place. We were only given about 10 – 15 minutes to walk around before heading back so that compounded things. More disciplined photographers probably would have sought out “the shot” and shot less frames. I just ran all over with my tripod shooting as much as I could in that amount of time, and managed a few family photos for good measure. Boat tour tickets for the three of us cost more than $200 so I wanted to get my money’s worth. If I sell a photo or two then that would cover it. 🙂
