Morro Bay Sea Lions

Sea Lions, Morro Bay, California

On the way home from Monterey, I stopped off at Morro Bay to go kayaking with San Luis Obispo photographer, Alex McGeagh. Alex had posted some interesting wildlife photos on her Flickr account a few weeks prior so she graciously volunteered to be my tour guide. I wanted to get some sea lion photos obviously but what I was really seeking was close-ups of sea otters. Sea otters have a lot of charisma and are quite photogenic. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any on this day but oh well. Kayaking is a fun activity with or without a camera.

    Hi Richard,

Those are funny looking harbor seals – are you sure those aren’t sea lions? :)

Thanks Ron. I just looked it up again and realized yes, you are right. They have ear flaps.

Taking photo’s from my kayak in Morro Bay is one of real pleasures in life. I have several photo’s of sea lions and harbor seals as well as pelicans, egrets etc. that were taken from my kayak. A challenge, but very rewarding.

I also have some nice otter pictures that were taken from shore. http://www.flickr.com/morrobaychuck

Thanks for sharing your experiences Chuck. Btw, the Flickr link doesn’t seem to work.
