My Most Unique Photo of Yosemite Yet

April Fool's 2015

Tunnel View, Yosemite National Park, California

I’ve never pushed myself so hard for a photo shoot. After countless hours researching one of my favorite photo locations on Google, Facebook, Flickr and Instagram and then tracking down the almost exact location through shared camera GPS data I drove 3 1/2 hours to capture this amazing Yosemite view that is destined to be a centerpiece of my landscape portfolio. To borrow some words from the world’s most famous, most sought-after and most awarded photographer, I f’g “Nailed it!!!” Just when I thought I was the only person who might have thought of capturing this unique vantage point I ran into a Bay Area photographer that I greatly respect, Youssef Ismail, as I was leaving. Apart from some brief small talk as I left, Youssef took my spot in the photographer lineup (after all it was standing room only) to capture his own unique take of this iconic view. I highly recommend seeing his photo on his blog.

  1. I can’t believe I’ve never before seen a photo of this amazing location. No doubt, this will soon gain icon status. For that matter, I think you too will become an icon. I mean, to me you’ve always been an icon but now you’ll be consider such by the masses. Way to go, Richard! 😉
