Sunset Ridge

Sunset Ridge, Angeles National Forest, California
I had been up to this local location scouting several times recently without my camera and was waiting for an evening such as last night to photograph. As if the sunset wasn’t exciting enough, it started raining while I was up there and I barely made it off the mountain before lightning strikes lit up the sky. A group of college-aged kids were headed up the trail to set up camp (illegal campsite I might add) as I was descending the trail. As much as I’d like to believe that they decided against setting up camp on this exposed ridge during the thunderstorm, I doubt it.

This image has a nice unity of varied colors that brings it together.

Thanks David. I had noticed on my previous scouting session that the sunset light illuminates the vegetation in the foreground so it would complement the sky well in certain instances.
