My friend and I went to visit the Getty Villa in Malibu for the first time yesterday and it is truly an amazing setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I’m not really much of a sculpture and ancient artifact type of guy (despite having to study art history in grad school) but even if you are like me I would totally recommend visiting just to see the layout of this place and the architecture.

Note: Though they allow you to take personal photos at the museum, they don’t allow for licensing of images however so don’t expect to see these up on my photo site galleries.

Nice Richard. I haven’t been here since the “new” Getty was built (20 yrs ago?). I remember this being nice and intimate – a wonderful space to contemplate art.

Thanks Russ. I think the Getty Center was probably built around 10 yrs ago or so because I remember driving there when it was new. This one is definitely nice and has more of an intimate feel. The museum is smaller as well.

I like the symmetry in the latest two photo posts. It is interesting that you chose to locate the pillars similarly in each.

Thanks David. I liked how the pillars framed the scenes. In the case of the first photo it was a necessity since the view wasn’t as good the closer I got to the flower bushes.

And here I was thinking you were just showing off your new house…

And I never said this wasn’t my new house. I just wanted to have some degree of modesty about it. :-)
