Waterfall Rainbow

Bridalveil Fall Rainbow, Yosemite National Park, California
When the first thing you photograph on a trip is a waterfall rainbow then it’s probably a sign of greater things to come. Even this late in the year, the major waterfalls at Yosemite were still running due to the large amount of snowfall in the Sierra this past winter and the recent storms the week prior to my visit. Waterfalls, fall foliage, and world-class scenery. It doesn’t get much better than this for a nature photographer.

I echo what Derrick said, this is a beauty.

Nice image, Richard, but you got lucky. The water in the falls, esp. Yosemite Falls was 100% because of the previous storm. In the weeks before that, it’s doubtful that Yosemite Falls was more than a mere trickle.

Thanks Gary. I had sort of figured that because the first day or two, Yosemite Falls had noticeably more water than at the end of the trip, where it didn’t have much at all. I didn’t notice much change in Bridalveil Falls though.

Richard, this is really appealing. It is recognizable as Yosemite yet has an abstract quality too. Well done!
