Sentinel Meadow Morning Fog With Yosemite Falls Reflection in Merced River, Yosemite National Park

Sentinel Meadow Morning Fog With Yosemite Falls Reflection in Merced River, Yosemite National Park

Yosemite can be somewhat of a frustrating experience for serious nature photographers since there is little solitude to be had in the valley during peak visiting times. Cold, early mornings however weed out the casual photographers and tourists who don’t want it as bad as you so you can pretty much have your pick of scenes if you can manage to drag yourself out of bed before sunrise.

I was driving around Yosemite Valley during the pre-sunrise hour of the 2nd day of the trip when I was greeted with a foggy Sentinel Meadow. The light was very contrasty during sunrise so I spent most of my time focusing on the ground-level scenes working the fog interaction with the landscape.

I enjoy hearing old fashioned statement like this. I commend you for continuing to strive for the single exposure image, rather than telling us a long story about stitching nine different exposures together.

Thanks David. I hear you. When I read about other photographers and their 10 image exposure and DoF blend, it makes me numb and quickly lose interest.
