I credit my wife, Samantha, for me photographing the summer solstice sunset that everyone went crazy over on the internet. Our son’s due date was at that any moment stage so I had been hesitant to go out but I made a remark after dinner how I think there was going to be an amazing sunset that evening. Samantha said I should go out there and shoot photos then. I still wasn’t sure but she encouraged me to do it if it would make me happy so I decided to go Alameda Point to shoot either seascapes or navy ships. It was totally worth it!
I’ve only been married for two years now, and known Samantha for five, but if I could give any advice to single people it would be to stop looking only for what turns you on and find a partner who will love you for who you are. The right person will support and encourage your passions (with some compromise and vice versa) rather than fight you for pursuing them. It might take some time to help them understand you but they will come around. If you’re not looking for a relationship then do whatever you want but if you’re wondering why it’s so hard to find someone perhaps it’s because you’re looking for all the wrong things.
