According to Merriam-Webster, a garden is "a plot of ground where herbs, fruits, flowers, or vegetables are cultivated" and a botanical garden is "a public recreation area or park usually ornamented with plants and trees". Both definitions are typically used interchangeably to describe subjects within the nature art sub-genre of garden photography. Garden photos can range from wide-angle scenes that cover a garden landscape to smaller scenes and even some flower compositions can be described as garden pictures.

I've been photographing gardens for 20 years now as some of my initial attempts at photography began at The Huntington Botanical Gardens and the Descanso Garden in Southern California.
