Salt Point

Tafoni & Sunset, Salt Point State Park, California

The honeycomb-like patterns found in these rocks at Salt Point State Park are caused by salt and wind erosion from ocean. This phenomenon is known as tafoni. This was one of the few images I made during the strange, pandemic year of 2020. My wife relieved me of my parenting duties for a day to celebrate my birthday, so what else would a photographer like me do? Go and make photographs.

Fog Rolling Over Bolinas Ridge, Mount Tamalpais State Park, California

This scene is the true definition of ephemeral light. It was completely clouded in with fog when for just a few seconds the fog cleared up as it rolled over the ridge below me. Then just like my window of opportunity closed for the night.
