Featured gallery of Salton Sea pictures by Richard Wong. The Salton Sea is not a naturally-occurring sea, and was the result of a man-made irrigation disaster. The Salton Sea is an interesting place to photograph as there is a lot of urban decay and abandoned objects scattered about the landscape. Slab City is a prime example of how unique the Salton Sea area is. A community of squatters, drifters and snowbirds on an old de-commissioned Navy base, Slab City is place for people who want to drop out of society. The famous Salvation Mountain by the late artist, Leonard Knight is also located just outside of Slab City.
