Sonoma Mission Chapel

Mission San Francisco Solano, California

Sonoma Mission (San Francisco Solano) Chapel, Sonoma, California

Established: 1823

California Mission: #21 of 21

Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma is notable for several reasons. Sonoma Mission was the only mission founded during the Alta California era and not under Spanish rule. The other notable fact was that the mission was only active for about a decade before disbanding due to the Mexican secularization act of 1833.

Among the 21 missions established, Mission San Francisco Solano holds a special place as it was the only mission founded during the Alta California era and not under Spanish rule. Located in Sonoma, California, this mission was founded on July 4, 1823, by Father Jose Altimira. The establishment of Mission San Francisco Solano marked the end of an era, symbolizing the conclusion of the Spanish colonization and the beginning of the Mexican Republic period in California. Also known as "Mission Sonoma", it was only active for about a decade before disbanding due to the Mexican secularization act of 1833.

During the Mexican Republic period, the mission continued to play an important role in the region. It served as a refuge for European settlers during conflicts and provided essential services such as medical care, education, and agricultural development. The architecture and design of Mission San Francisco Solano reflect the blend of Spanish and Mexican influences. The mission's adobe structure, with its thick walls and sturdy buttresses, stands as a testament to the craftsmanship of the time. Today, Mission San Francisco Solano is an essential part of Native American history and culture. It serves as a reminder of the impact of colonization on indigenous peoples and their subsequent resilience and adaptation.

Museum-Quality: TruLife® Acrylic Face Mount Print - Ready To Hang

Museum-Quality: TruLife® Acrylic Face Mount Print - Ready To Hang

The most luxurious of fine art prints, TruLife® Acrylic face mount prints have a 3d-like appearance due to the print being sandwiched between museum-quality acrylic and a solid backer medium. The paper is specifically made for face mounted prints and features a pearl-like luminescence. When light hits the acrylic, it refracts through the artwork and gives off an appearance of having been illuminated from within. These are the most vibrant and detailed prints I offer. Acrylic prints are best suited for hanging in homes.
